Kanye West has reached an out-of-court settlement with a cameraman he is alleged to have punched.
Videographer Daniel Ramos claimed the Grammy-winning rapper wrestled him to the ground while trying to grab his camera in July 2013.
Mr Ramos filed a lawsuit following the attack outside a terminal at Los Angeles International Airport and the case was scheduled to go to trial next week.
But Mr Ramos’ lawyer Gloria Allred revealed the case had been settled and West had apologised to her client.
Mr Ramos’ lawsuit stated that he was attacked by West after he asked the rapper why he wouldn’t talk to photographers.
Ms Allred had said in her original statement on the case: “Daniel, who was standing about 10 feet away from Mr West, called out to him and said ‘Kanye, can we talk to you, Kanye?’.
“Daniel then said ‘What’s going on? Why can’t we talk to you? I mean why?’
“Daniel asked Mr West that question because one week earlier on 12 July, 2013, Mr West had shouted at photographers ‘Don’t talk to me. I don’t want to hear paparazzi talk to me or anybody I know’.
“After hearing Daniel ask (his question), Mr West stopped walking, put his bag down… and turned.
“Then without warning or provocation, Mr West suddenly attacked Daniel, punching him and attempting to wrestle Daniel’s camera from his hands.”
In her latest statement, Ms Allred said: “Celebrities are not above the law, and they have no right to physically attack someone simply because they were asked a question.”
West’s lawyer Shawn Holley did not immediately return phone or email messages requesting a comment.
Ms Allred wrote that other details of the settlement will not be released, but said the apology was a major component.
Prosecutors declined to file felony charges against West, but Los Angeles prosecutors decided to pursue misdemeanour charges.
West, 37, was told he must serve two years on probation and 250 hours of community service after pleading no contest last year to misdemeanour battery.
He was also told to attend 24 anger management sessions.
West became one of the world’s most photographed men after he married reality star Kim Kardashian.
