Members of a group calling itself Akyemansa Youth for Oppong Nkrumah (AYFON), in the Eastern region have picked up nomination forms for Joy FM’s former Super Morning Show Host Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, to contest in their constituency.
[contextly_sidebar id=”Nmm8JxiTPWyl0B05cl2CtTISMJRFlRKn”]AYFON is made up of mostly vibrant young men and women in the Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency in the Eastern region.
Convener for ‘AYFON’, Paul Asamoah told Citi News on Sunday that they only picked up the forms to convince the former broadcaster to contest for the Ofoase-Ayirebi Constituency seat.
Media reports had said that ‘AYFON’ had on Kojo Oppong Nkrumah’s directive, picked up the forms at the Party’s office at Ofoase-Ayirebi Constituency in the Eastern Region, where he intends to contest.
But the convener for the group, Paul Asamoah dismissed such reports.
“That is not the case, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah never told us to pick up any forms for him, we just took that initiative because we the youth want him to contest.”
He added, “we only picked it up last Thursday so that he will not turn down our plea for him to contest.”
Paul Asamoah stated that, they were yet to meet Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and explain to him why they embarked on such move.
He went on; ” Kojo has in his personal capacity offered a lot of help to the youth in Ofoase-Ayirebi. We therefore have the conviction that he is just the ideal candidate to represent us us our leader.”
Over the past weeks, social media has been awash with campaign postures of Kojo Oppong Nkrumah announcing his intension to contest, on the ticket of the NPP, as parliamentary candidate for Ofoase-Ayirebi Constituency.
This comes barely a week after former Chief Marketing officer of MTN George Andah, confirmed plans to contest the NPP’s parliamentary primaries for Ewutu Senya West.
Meanwhile Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has not confirmed giving AYFON the go ahead to pick up nomination forms.
