The Mo Ibrahim Foundation has congratulated former President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat, describing his decision as a “benchmark for other African countries to follow.”
He believes Goodluck Jonathan has also “achieved a legacy” by taking such a decision.
“Today, we Africans are all proud of Nigeria and President Jonathan.”

President-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria beat Goodluck Jonathan by about 2 million votes .
Nigerian’s Aviation Minister subsequently confirmed that Goodluck Jonathan called Buhari to concede defeat and congratulate his main contender.

Other persons including Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama have congratulated both Buhari and Goodluck Jonathan.
The President in his congratulatory message commended Buhari for his great victory and his contribution towards the peaceful conduct of the historic elections, “which marks an important milestone, not only in the democratic development of Nigeria but also the continent as a whole.”
