About ten children and a suspected trafficker have been detained by the Nkwanta district Police in the Volta region.

The children had boarded the bus together with the alleged trafficker known only as Samuel to work on a maize farm.
Nkwanta District Police commander Superintended Joseph Acka told Citi News investigations are already underway.
He said they believe the children were “from towns and villages around Damanko, near the Volta North.”
“We were told that their parents actually agreed that they go with a certain young man who gave his name as Samuel and according to that young man he is taking them to Wabolabo near Asikuma and they are going to do maize farming.”
In a related development, the Agona Swedru Circuit Court has remanded a 59-year old fish monger into prison custody for trafficking her son and two grandchildren at Senya Bereku in the Central Region.
