Government has rapidly responded to the plight of victims of a rainstorm which hit the Mion District in the Northern Region.
[contextly_sidebar id=”3r7DVjwI2m1mfB9JJEe1uR8yQVyQAsvs”]About 700 residents there were rendered homeless by the disaster which occurred Tuesday March 17, 2015.
After the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO)’s assessment, government on Sunday March 22, 2015 released some relief items to the Northern Regional Coordinating Council for onward distribution to the victims.
The regional Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna confirmed receipt of the items to Citi News in an interview.
He itemized the consignment including some pockets of roofing sheets, roofing nails, bails of used clothing and bags of rice.
Alhaji Limuna said government was touched by the plight of the victims, hence the rapid response.
