President John Mahama will today receive President Idriss Deby of Chad, who is on a day’s working visit.
[contextly_sidebar id=”2bJOtJaPqF7EX2CBDkrvyF9OREbKGtNb”]The Chadian president who is also chair of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) is on a follow- up visit after a similar meeting was held between President Mahama and his counterparts from Congo and Equatorial Guinea.
President Mahama, in his capacity as the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government held discussions with President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea and President Dennis Sassou-N’Guesso of Congo on security in the sub-region.
The meeting which focused on the fight against Boko Haram in Nigeria had the ECCAS representatives pledging unflinching support for ECOWAS and seeking the establishment of a joint military force to battle the insurgents.
