Vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Thursday led hundreds of people in the Upper East region to demonstrate against President John Mahama’s government over what they say is worsening economic conditions.
According to Citi News’ Frederick Awuni “They complain about the hardship in the economy, high fees for admission into teacher and nursing training colleges, they also spoke about collapsing NHIS, corruption under the GYEEDA and SADA programmes among others,” he added.
Frederick Awuni also reported that some personalities in the NPP including the Deputy Minority Leader, Dominic Nitiwul and the National Youth organiser of the party, Sammy Awuku joined the demonstrators.
“John Boadu, National Organizer of the NPP, Kamal Deen Abdulai, NASARA coordinator, Chairman Wontum, Ashanti regional chairman, Bugri Naabu, Northern regional chairman, among others were also there.” Awuni reported.
The NPP have organized similar demonstrations in Accra and Kumasi.
