Welterweight Fredrick Lawson has indicated his readiness to take on bigger challenges in his career after winning his latest bout against Breidis Prescott on Thursday evening in the United States.
Lawson had to dig deep Thursday night to pull out a 10-round split decision over Prescott at the Hialeah Park Race Track in Hialeah, Florida and it was the first time in his professional career Lawson had a significant challenge in front of him and was in danger of walking out of the ring with his first loss.
With the win, Lawson went to 24-0, 20 KOs, while Prescott dropped to 27-7, 20 KOs. The 25-year old said after the bout that he was relishing the challenge of rising to the top of his career.
“I feel very confident and happy. I thank the Almighty God, my team, coaches, my nation (Ghana) and everyone who supports me,” he said to the media at the Hialeah Park Race Track in Hialeah, Florida.
“Prescott was not an easy opponent to fight but I was brave and gathered courage for the bout. “I am young and talented, and by the grace of God, I know I will make it to the top.”
