But a new co-sharing agreement between Australia’s National Airline, Qantas, and Emirates Airlines will mean passengers can now buy tickets in Ghana.
The co-sharing agreement will also see Emirates airlines flying Qantas passengers to Dubai and Qantas will take over and fly them to Sidney and other parts of the world.
Speaking to Citi Business News Business Development Manager, APG Group Ghana, Franchise holders for Qantas Airlines in Ghana Lordson Oduro Saka said Qantas is working round the clock to have direct flights from Ghana to Australia.
“what is new is that before now it was very difficult for nay agent to sell any ticket from here to Australia or to anyone, to any part of the world flying on Qantas, what we have done now is to make this possible which means from now on you can buy a ticket Accra – Dubai – Sidney – Australia on Qantas but Qantas will not fly to Ghana because it has a co-sharing agreement with Emirates Airlines who will fly passengers from Ghana to Dubai or Sidney then Qantas takes over and fly the passengers to any part of the world that they want.”
Lordson Oduro Saka told Citi Business News that Qantas will be watching the route as the numbers keep growing hoping to fly direct from Ghana to any destination in the world but that will greatly depend on how this co-sharing arrangement go.
He adds that ‘football fans who would like to travel to New Zealand for the under 20 football world championship to be held later in the year, can purchase their tickets right here in Ghana to fly on Qantas.
