In an interview with Citi News Kwame Agbodza said the tractor which cost GHC 36,000 will be made available for farmers in the district to lease at subsidized and affordable rates. This he added would go a long way to encourage more people into farming and make land tilling easier for farmers.
He added that in recognition of the roles played by the school towards the acquisition of the machine, the Assembly has resolved to allow Adaklu Senior High School to use the equipment on their school farm free of charge.
‘’The school would use the tractor to plough for free while another person in the community would be charged 20% less than what is charged by commercial operators’’ he said.
Adding that ‘’Proceeds from the operations of the tractor would be used to maintain it as well purchase additional ones.’’
The Adaklu District Assembly which was carved from the then Adaklu-Anyigbe District two years ago is endowed with vast land suitable for arable farming and animal grazing.
The Member of Parliament has also pledged to establish Agriculture Mechanization Centers in the district to boost farm yields in the area.
Speaking to citinews, the District Chief Executive Mr. Emmanuel Sky Ganaku assured the people of the district of government’s commitment to make agriculture an attractive venture for the citizenry.
He challenged farmers in the district to give out their best in making the Adaklu District one of the food baskets for the nation.
