The Ministry of Power is appealing to Ghanaians to desist from politicizing the nation’s deepening energy crisis.
“It’s not about NDC [National Democratic Congress], it’s not about NPP [New Patriotic Party]. At any particular time, a government is in charge,” he remarked.

Addressing a stakeholder meeting on the energy sector organized by the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC), the sector Minister said the power crisis should be seen as a national problem.
He explained that “a radio presenter asked me what had happened to the generation machinery brought into the country under the NPP regime. I cut him off and told him that it is not about NDC, NPP. It is about Ghana and so I will kindly submit that we look at power situation.”
According to him, Ghana as a nation is “on a war front as far as power is concerned,” therefore; the most critical question which should be asked is “what are we doing?”
He stressed that “it’s not going to matter which party is in power” adding that “as a people, we should move away from NDC, NPP phenomenon.”
Dr. Donkor further gave positive progress report on government efforts to secure more power barges to help with the situation.
He said government is almost at the end of its financial closure to bring in the two power barges and latest by next week, “there will be financial closure that will enable the process of getting the badges into the country to begin work.”
“Some works would have to be done in Ghana to enable evacuation when the first badge anchors at Tema fishing harbour and once we have financial closure, those works will start,” he added.
