Three districts in the Northern Region lack District Chief Executives.
The affected districts are West Mamprusi, Kumbungu and Bunkprugu/Yunyoo.
[contextly_sidebar id=”43ehhiPLDVnx2Am3yyMkawihHLp296ku”]President John Mahama fired, the former DCE for West Mamprusi, Adams Yussif Banabilsira and Philip Larry also a former DCE for Bunkprugu/Yunyoo.
The Kumbungu DCE position became vacant following the death of the late Iddi Manza Mahama who died in office.
Residents of the affected districts are worried about the situation and are demanding the immediate nomination of persons for confirmation.
Particularly, the chief of Wungu, Naa Saaka Sulemana Zoore raised the concern when Local Government and Rural Development Minister, Julius Debrah paid a courtesy call on him.
The President’s nominee for the vacant West Mamprusi District Chief Executive position, Alhaji Alidu Iddrisu Zakariah, a former MP for Walewale was technically knocked out by assembly members of the West Mamprusi District.
Only 11 out of 41 assembly members voted for Alhaji Alidu Iddrisu Zakariah, a former Member of Parliament for the Walewale constituency.
But Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Julius Debrah has assured the chiefs and people of West Mamprusi that the President’s nominee will soon be announced.
He however reminded them of their responsibility to ensure one touch confirmation of the President’s nominee.
