A car bomb has exploded at a car park outside a stadium where President Goodluck Jonathan addressed a re-election campaign rally in Gombe on Monday.
The incident is said to have occurred minutes after the President had left the premises.
The explosion reportedly happened around 3:10 pm on Monday.
A local reporter is quoted by the Vanguard as saying, “The President had just passed the parking lot and we were trailing behind his convoy when the explosion happened… just 100 metres (yards) from the bus we were driving in.”
Three people have been killed and 18 others were wounded when the bomb exploded, hospital sources said.
Many have called for the elections to be postponed due to the increased activities of Islamist Militant group, Boko Haram but ECOWAS chairman, President John Mahama has indicated that the election will come on as planned.
He said postponing it will give victory to Boko Haram.
