Vice President, Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, has commended the Bible Society of Ghana(BSG) for the work done over in the distribution of bibles in the country over the years.
Speaking at the Golden Jubilee launch held at the Pentecost International Worship Centre in Accra, he expressed joy over the success in “making God’s Word easily accessible, easy to comprehend, and at prices that are definitely affordable.”
“On behalf of the government and the people of this republic, let me congratulate members of the Bible Society for completing 50 years of faithful services to God and country,” he added.
According to him, the Bible continues to have a profound impact on the spiritual,moral and political life of people of which Ghana is no exception.
He bemoaned “global apprehension and anxiety about acts of intolerance, intimidation, brutality and gratuitous violence that has been visited in the name of religion in parts of West Africa and the Middle-East.”
According to him,while religion has inspired deeds of great compassion, it has also been used to justify may murderous acts. He therefore prayed and emphasized on the ability of the Bible “to strengthen public and private morality.”
In attendance were the Chief Justice of Ghana, Theodore Georgina Wood; the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joe Ghartey; as well as Heads of various orthodox and protestant Churches in Ghana.
