About 10 buses will leave Tamale with New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters on Tuesday February 17 ahead of the party’s Wednesday’s demonstration in Accra dubbed “Wↄn Gbo.”
National headship of the NPP is spearheading the intended demonstration against the nation’s power crisis known as “Dumsor -Dumsor.”

The NPP Northern Regional Secretary, Sule Salifu in a Citi News interview said party supporters in the region were equally concerned about the erratic power, hence their decision to join the demonstration in their numbers.
“Tomorrow Tuesday the regional secretariat of this party in this region will be leading a team of about 10 to 12 buses from the region to participate in this demonstration in Accra on Wednesday and we call on all our brothers and sisters who are within the Greater Accra and its environs to come out in their numbers so that we will tell government that we are dissatisfied with the management of the power sector under their government.”
He lamented, “As a party we view the inconsistency and several failed promises from this government as a deliberate attempt to inflict hardship and suffering on the ordinary people of this country.”
Sule Salifu emphasized, “Therefore we as a secretariat in this region were extremely happy when the steering committee and the national executive committee of the party decided firmly to hold this demonstration on the 18th of this month to register our protest towards the way government is handling the power sector difficulties in this country.”
Sule Salifu described the power crisis as sickening and totally unacceptable.
“What the NPP did when it was in power was much better than what they are doing currently to deal with the power sector problems: we are told by experts that we only need crude oil to power the turbines but government doesn’t have the money to do it but if you look at the corrupt cases that have been left of the hook, we will want the donor community to know that because of the level of corruption in this country we are being affected by not getting regular efficient power supply.”
Sule Salifu suggested that the demonstration should be replicated in any of the three regions of the north after the maiden one in Accra.
“One of the issues that we will present as a secretariat to the national executive committee is to move the demonstration straight to the Northern Region or any of the Northern Regions so that we will also come out in our numbers to be counted.”
He claimed the Mahama led NDC administration was clueless in solving the country’s energy crisis.
“We believe the government is without a clue or solution to the Dumsor: we must rise up and demand that things are done well, efficiently and competently: our country and the citizens deserve better from their government, in our opinion, the NDC is a failed government of significant magnitude.”
