Prospective drivers have not been issued their drivers’ licenses since mid-2014 because some printing machines at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) have broken down.

The Director of Driver Training, Testing and Licensing of the DVLA, C.W. Musah, is quoted as saying, the Authority is facing difficulty in acquiring the spare parts to get the machines fixed.
So far, only three out of the eight machines have been fixed and are currently being used to print out the licenses.
Despite the huge backlog, 8,849 new licenses have been printed, out of which 3,590 have been released to DVLA offices nationwide.
For license replacements, a total of 10,370 have been printed, out of which 9,540 have been released to the offices of the DVLA.
The DVLA has however given the assurance that all the outstanding licenses will be printed by June 2015.
