Confusion has hit the camp of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) in the Northern Region where the old regional executives have abandoned the party.
In solidarity, all old executives in 16 constituencies in the region have followed suit.
This turmoil in the PPP’s camp comes a few days after the party’s regional delegates congress held in Tamale.
[contextly_sidebar id=”8nbj7ftjk6fj7P2zKOoggwpQmX9b6Ror”]They accused the party’s founder, Dr. Papa Kwesi Ndoum of creating another opposition party within the PPP.
They alleged that Dr. Papa Kwesi Ndoum bribed delegates in the region to vote for his preferred candidates.
This, according to the disillusioned PPP old regional and constituency executives amounted to a clear violation of the PPP’s fight against corruption in the country.
The former PPP Northern Regional first Vice Chairman, Adams Mohammed asserted, “The founder, Dr. Paa Kwesi Ndoum who claims to be fighting corruption is rather promoting corruption within the party and as at now that is the most reason why none of his 4,000 employees vote for him when it is time for elections.”
“This behavior must be stopped: he is using our party for business, he is not interested in winning power for we in the party to be able to achieve something in the near future: they are interested only in making money by expanding their businesses with the name of PPP,” he fumed.
Taja Emmanuel Dapaah alleged that Dr. Paa Kwesi Ndoum used district Managers of the GN Bank to finance the campaigns of his preferred candidates during the regional delegates’ congress.
“That is not how we should run a political party, everyone have a favorite candidate we know that but you don’t come out openly to support your preferred candidates by providing all the resources to the person to campaign and win election.”
“Anywhere Mutala Mohammed the current Organizer goes that Dr. Ndoum said he and his people are his chosen candidates and that they should vote for them,” Taja claimed.
Furthermore, Damba Abdul Wahab said, “Looking at the issue of we saying that we are going to elect MMDCE’s and even Ministers and now as we are speaking we are those who are rather promoting corruption in the country.”
