“We members of the Tertiary Educational Institutions Network (TEIN) in the Ashanti region endorse the procession for His Excellency John Mahama in Kumasi by the Organized Youth of Ashanti,” the group stated in a press release.
“We are marching to say ‘Thank You to President Mahama’ for the massive infrastructural development in Ashanti and show support to urge him on for his effective strategy to ending our current power challenges.”
The demonstration which is being organized by the Youth of Ashanti (OYA), a group affiliated to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) says the exercise is to highlight the development projects initiated by the President in the Ashanti Region and also ask for more.
Some of the projects according to them include the Mampong water project, the Jute factory, the rehabilitation of the Kumasi airport, the Kwahu water project, road networks and among others.
The exercise comes on the back of the “Wɔn gbo” demonstration organized by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Accra.
The NPP demonstrated to protest what they say is the debilitating effect of the power crisis on Ghanaians and worsening economic conditions in the country.
