Rehabilitation works on the Adomi Bridge will be completed by October this year, the contractor has said.
The rehabilitation work which began in March last year involves the replacement of the entire deck and all the hangers and ropes that support the 56-year-old bridge.
The about 13 million Euros project will provide the connection route for an average of 120,000 people cross the Volta River daily to and from the eastern corridor and Northern Region of the country.
Patrick Osei Frimpong, the site engineer of the Austrian construction firm Messrs Bilfinger MCE GmbH, gave the assurance to President John Mahama when he visited the project site on Thursday.
“Our timeline is very tight but we are making sure that our target of completion is scheduled for October this year, on condition that we don’t meet major delays on the ark…We are putting some corrosion protection over it and then we are changing the cables. Currently we are inspecting the manholes inside the ark and then we are finding some few extra repair works but we are hoping that we don’t get major ones that will delay us,” he added.
