Mrs Jocelyn Oclich, the Assembly Member for Bosontoe Electoral Area in the Ho Municipality, has expressed misgivings about the arbitrary increase in home garbage lifting fees by Zoomlion.
[contextly_sidebar id=”nzS4cgTPnfCJuPqaxOTGa2Gfq7YyrOrx”]She said this at the launch of a Ho Rotary Club Sanitation Awareness intervention in Ho.
Mrs Oclich said the increase from Ghc 5.00 a month, when the house-to-house garbage collection started some three and half years ago, to Ghc 20.00 could be a disincentive to sanitation improvement drives.
She said cost of the service was going above the means of many clients.
The Rotary Club project, Mr Rockson Dogbegah, Outgoing President, said would bring stakeholders together to tackle the sanitation issue in the region, which he described as a “menace”.
The project, to be funded by Rotary Club Ho, would begin in the Ho Municipality on a pilot basis and later extended to the rest of the region.
Mr Dogbegah said going along with the sanitation improvement project would be an awards scheme for districts and communities.
