A last minute strike from Asamoah Gyan was enough to see the Black Stars beat a highly rated Algerian side and breathe back life into their African Cup of Nation campaign.
The Al-Ain forward started the match for Ghana after recovering from illness that put him out of the 2-1 loss to Senegal in the first group match.
After running unto a pass from Mubarak Wakaso, Gyan sent his shot into the net past Algerian goalie Rais Mbolhi’s right bottom corner of the net.
The goal leaves the Black Stars second in Group C pending the final Group C game between South Africa and Senegal which kicks off at 1900GMT.
Of course, observers of the match were active on several social media platforms and they gave various reactions to the goal:
In Ghana, what Asamoah Gyan just did is called scoring a “Mallam goal”. Don’t ask me what it means.
