Stakeholders in the Atebubu-Amanten District have taken steps to provide every household in the district with toilet facilities, in a bid to stop the perennial Cholera outbreak in the district.

Brefo reported that the project according to the Director of Health in the district Dr Ramsia Ahmed, he project under the community total led sanitation will start soon with the expectation of getting the needed corporations from landlords.
According to Dr Ahmed, open defecation by the people is a major cause of the cholera outbreak in the district.
“Upon discussion with the stakeholders in the district they concluded that every household is provided with toilet facilities and the district has also resolved to apply it by-laws that all building plans must include sanitation facilities,” he disclosed.
According to the correspondent, the Member of Parliament for the district Honourable Sanja Nanja encouraged the move by the assembly and commended them for the initiative but urged them to as a matter of urgency enforce the said by-laws.
He added that Nanja disclosed that the districts will embark on dissolving its dug wells with chloride before the raining season to mitigate the future effect of the disease.
