The Ashanti Regional Chairman speaking to the media explained that “living standards are worsening by the day and most Ghanaians have been struggling to feed themselves and their families.”
He spoke about the current power crisis, the collapse of industry, the numerous job losses, the deteriorating National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), higher utility bills, poor environmental and sanitation conditions among others.
Mr. Antwi Boasiako however charged “all well-meaning Ghanaians to as a civil right, join the December 10, 2014 demonstration to show their displeasure at governments’ insensitivity.”
In June 2014, hundreds of Ghanaians in Kumasi, led by the Regional branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Ashanti Regional Parliamentary Caucus, marched through the streets of the city in a demonstration, dubbed “Ya y3 den?” to register the party’s displeasure over what they describe as unbearable hardship in the region.
