As part of Unilever’s Sustainable Plan goal to help 25 million people gain improved access to toilets by 2020, Unilever Ghana Foundation has handed over 2 newly built Hygiene Stations valued at 80,000 Ghana Cedis to 2 schools in Tema.
The beneficiary schools were Padmore Primary School and Community 5 number 3 Primary School.
The facilities comprises six washrooms with six hand washing units at the Padmore primary school and four washrooms with four hand washing units at the community 5 number 3 school for both teachers and pupils.
At the unveiling ceremony, Mr. Andrew Quayson, Chairman of the Unilever Ghana Foundation said, “One child dies every 15 seconds from diarrhea disease, which is the second most common cause of death in children under five across the world.
Sadly, more than 80% of the deaths occur in Africa and Asia. Given the facts, Unilever is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of a billion people around the world by 2020.
This is a big goal within the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan and we are determined to get there”
