The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has described ex-President John Kufuor as a pillar of stability within the party and the nation at large, honouring him as he celebrates his birthday on Monday.
Wishing the ex-President a happy 76 birthday, a statement signed by the party’s Director of Communications, Nana Akomea said Mr. Kufuor has made and continues to make the party proud following all the successes he chalked during his tenure as President of Ghana.
“We are very proud of your leadership of our party and our nation, especially between 2001-2008,” he said.
[contextly_sidebar id=”hQCQEwfBaQxX9WhsueiCT0yxqxaXBmKJ”]Listing a number of achievements of the former President, the NPP mentioned the introduction of far reaching social policies which have irreversibly advanced the progress of this country and its people.
“You decriminalised free speech; you introduced the seminal and unprecedented Health Insurance system in our country; you introduced capitation grant, school feeding, free maternal health care; and Metro Mass Transport.”
They also mentioned the stabilisation of the Ghana Cedi and supervision of the discovery of the “almighty oil in commercial quantities for our country.”
The NPP lauded their former leader of supervising the 2008 elections which led to the “smooth transfer of power, the second only time in the Fourth Republic.”
“After your retirement from the presidency, you have received and continue to receive many international awards and recognition, thus bringing more glory to our country. You remain a pillar of stability not only in our party but in our country and our continent,” the statement added.
“On this happy occasion of your 76th Birthday, we can only pray for God to grant you more years and every blessing. Happy Birthday President John Agyekum Kufuor.”
