President John Dramani Mahama has asked delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to ignore claims that government has failed to deliver on its campaign promises.
He stated that the achievement chalked by the governing NDC is evident for Ghanaians to see.
“Notwithstanding the temporary challenges that we are facing, your party is making remarkable progress in many sectors of our national lives and let nobody tell you different the achievemnent is there for you to see,” he told teeming NDC members at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
The General Secretary of the Convention Peoples’ Party(CPP), Ivor Greenstreet earlier stated at the Congress that Ghanaians are yet to experience government’s Better Ghana Agenda promises since they took over power in 2008.
According to him, Ghanaians are enduring severe economic hardship under the current government.
“Apparently nobody, I mean nobody is seeing your better Ghana agenda. Continuous ‘dumsor, dumsor’. Corruption from top to bottom, left right inside out and all the challenges you are facing is suffocating the Ghanaian people,” Greenstreet said.
However, responding to Greenstreet’ s comments at the same event, Mahama said the “ NDC is a party that delivers when it promises.”
“We have been working hard to justify the mandate entrusted to us by the people of Ghana and I’m happy to report to you as we approach the second anniversary of our assumption of office that your government is steadily delivering on the mandate that it was given to it by the people of Ghana.”
Highlighting some projects undertaken by the government, Mahama revealed that the “second phase of the Tamale Teaching Hospital is ongoing…”
Meanwhile President Mahama has predicted a resounding victory for the party in the upcoming 2016 elections.
“We will regain power in the 2016 general elections, “ Mahama said.
