As the governing NDC national delegates’ congress draws closer, majority of NDC delegates in the Northern Region have endorsed Kofi Portuphy’s candidature as the party’s national Chairman.
The current NADMO Boss is competing with Alhaji Hudu Yahaya, Dan Abodakpi and the incumbent, Dr. Kwabena Adjei.
At a news conference in Tamale, 310 delegates from the 31 constituencies in the Northern Region openly declared their unconditional support for Kofi Portophy.

According to the Northern Region NDC delegates, the party risks losing the 2016 general elections if Kofi Portuphy does not get the nod as national Chairman.
They explained, “The 2016 general elections promises to be more challenging for the NDC as we have to use legitimate means possible to ensure the NDC’s third consecutive victory and His Excellency John Dramani Mahama’s second term as President: to achieve this we need not just a Chairman but one who is more credible, more interesting, more concrete, more persuasive and more experienced in matters of people’s mobilization.”
The statement added, “We are confident that the person whose credentials are in synch with the above attributes and can lead us in the pursuit of this laudable objective is none other than Dr. Kofi Portophy.”
The Northern Region NDC delegates opined that Kofi Portuphy could not be compared with his other competitors judging him by his pedigree in Ghana’s democratic dispensation.
By extension, the Northern Region NDC delegates endorsed Kofi Adams for the National Organizer position, Kobby Fiagbe as Propaganda Secretary, Kamel Norshie as Treasurer, Harry Zakour and Lawyer Mohammed Alhassan as vice Chairmen.
“Having taken cognizance of the contestants putting themselves forward for those positions and having assessed their strengths and weaknesses, we firmly believe that Kofi Adams is suitable for the National Organizer position, Kobby Fiagbe as Propaganda Secretary, Kamel Norshie as Treasurer, Harry Zakour and Lawyer Mohammed Alhassan as vice Chairmen.”
They thus appealed to all NDC delegates across the country to on December 20thin Kumasi elect into office Kofi Portophy and all the aforementioned aspirants for the various positions.
“We expect nothing but one touch victory for all our preferred candidates at the party’s upcoming national delegate’s congress scheduled for Kumasi on December 20th.”
