The lawyer for Alhaji Dawood, Addo Atuah has said that his client has pleaded not guilty to the charges proffered against for his role in the Nayele Ametefeh’s cocaine affair.
After Dawood’s court appearance on Thursday, Addo Atuah told Citi News that “no evidence was proffered in court today. It was only the fact of the matter that were stated.”
Alhaji Mohammed Dawood told an Accra based court that he turned himself in to the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) with his lawyer when the news broke about his alleged involvement helping Nayele Ametefe.
[contextly_sidebar id=”n23TbYPGGLofbpHSY61WAxcw4HzGK0jj”]Speaking on Eyewitness News, Addo Atuah argued that reports that his client aided Nayele Ametefe are mere allegations stating that “to the extent that these have not been proven beyond reasonable doubt, no one can rely on hear facts of the case to establish the guilt of an accuse person.”
He confirmed that his client Dawood knows Nayele Ametefe but had only known her for “just about two to three weeks.”
Lawyer Atuah reacting to the question if his client played a role in aiding the ladies using the VVIP lounge he said “ it doesn’t matter because the case is in court so whether he did or not will be established in the court of law.
“The proper forum is in the court and when we get there and it is established that he actually played any role bothers on criminality will be established if on the other hand whatever role he played is not criminal he will be acquitted and discharged,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ms Ametefe who was busted at the Heathrow airport for carrying about 12.kg of cocaine into the United Kingdom has pleaded guilty to the charges leveled against her in a court in London.
