President John Mahama will symbolically turn on the pumps at the Kpong Water Supply Expansion Project today.
This will deliver about 20 million gallons of water per day to communities in Adenta, Madina, Kwabenya, North and East Legon and its environs.
[contextly_sidebar id=”7enFawHDhV24n6elqcW75lIhM1PA2Vpx”]These communities have be experiencing chronic water shortage for many years therefore, the completion of this project will thus bring relief to the residents in these areas.
In February this year, the President inspected the project which is being executed by the Exim Bank of China and the government of Ghana.
The project when finally completed is expected to pump 40 million gallons of water to residents in Accra.
The Kpong Water Supply Expansion Project includes a water plant, an office building for the production and management of the water plant, water pumps, a substation, a raw water aeration tank, a low-load settling pond, an air-water backwash pond, a large clean water tank and water pipes as well as force pump stations concerning water purification technologies such as regular sediment, sand filtration and disinfection.
