Serie A leaders Juventus gave renewed hope to nearest challengers Roma by dropping points at Fiorentina.
Goalscoring chances were rare in a match which lacked attacking quality.
Ex-Manchester United defender Patrice Evra went closest to scoring for Juventus, who dropped points for only the third time in 21 Serie A matches.
Massimiliano Allegri’s side moved four points clear but second-place Roma can cut the advantage to a point if they beat Sassuolo on Saturday.
But defending champions Juventus still needed veteran keeper Gianluigi Buffon to deny Fiorentina midfielder Juan Cuadrado’s second-half drive and claim a draw.
