The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth in the Jirapa District of the Upper West Region say they are happy about the President’s dismissal of the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Vivian Nelly Kunku.
[contextly_sidebar id=”lazQLrIt4nhgtruyAeIb9A65EwpWZv5Y”]The President sacked Madam Vivian Kunku on Wednesday after series of agitation against her leadership style by NDC youth in the district.
The youth accused her of abuse of power and wrongful award of contracts.
According to them, they fear that the actions of Madam Kunko could cause the defeat of the NDC in the 2016 general elections.
Even though the DCE’s dismissal is not directly linked to the agitations of the youth, their spokesperson Ishmael Sung commended President Mahama for the action in an interview with Citi News, adding that “we knew the president will do the right thing because everything was very wrong; the lady was incompetent and not on top of issues.”
He therefore pleaded to the government to look at the issues in the district and find a capable person for the position.
“They should bring in a bridger, a unifier, somebody who will be neutral and be ready to unify all our ranks, someone who is development oriented,” he said.
He argued that appointing a competent DCE would help achieve a better agenda for the 2016 election.
