Members of the Ghana Police Service were on December 1, treated to a day of pre-Christmas fun by Ghanaian Gospel artiste Abena Ruthy called the ‘Police Roadshow.’
The Road show came on the heels of the release of the artiste’s latest single ‘Ayeyi’ meaning praise.
According to the singer-cum-corporate woman, the quest to do something nice for the men and women of the police service stemmed from the fact that the yuletide was due and the Police would be much needed to help keep the nation safe for festivities.
‘It is obvious that the Police are now easily accessible and evidently visible thanks to the initiative of the current administration to create visibility points all over the country. This I believe has helped reduce crime and its associated menace in our society,’ Abena Ruthy said.
The Road Show kick-started at the Regional Headquarters, with the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno giving his blessing and sending his men to accompany Abena Ruthy and her team.
The group visited 12 Visibility Points, namely Oxford Street, Danquah Circle, Ako Agyei, Christ the King, Airport Roundabout, Polo Grounds Traffic Light, Tetteh Quarshie, Sraha Police Post, Quartey Papafio Post, Pantang East Post, Tantra Hill, Achimota before doubling back to the Regional Police Headquarters.
‘The police were extremely elated at the gesture. It was a sight to behold. The entire team were received one more time by the PR team after the tour. It was really a dream come true’ Abena Ruthy said gleefully after the show.
