The Managing Director of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) Godwin Kweku Dovlo has resigned.
The Public Relations Officer of the Water Resources, Works and Housing Ministry Abraham Otabil who confirmed this to Citi News stated that the former MD did not give reasons for his resignation.
Abraham Otabil also disclosed that a Deputy Managing Director in charge of operations of the water company, Fred Lokko has been appointed by the board to act until a substantive manager is appointed.
Godwin Kweku Dovlo tendered in his resignation to the Ministry of Water Resources Works and Housing on Thursday.
“The news of his resignation came to the Ministry through a letter that he presented to the Sector Minister. …The Minister of Water Works and Housing in consultation with the President therefore asked Mr. Fred Lokko who is in charge of operations to act as managing director,”Otabil said.
There were earlier reports that his resignation is as result of numerous allegations that the water supplied to residents of Accra is unwholesome.
But Abraham Otabil stated that the “resignation has nothing to do with the allegation.”
He insisted that the water supplied to residents of Accra is clean.
