Fire on Tuesday dawn gutted a part of the Tamale Aboabo grains market and destroyed foodstuff worth thousands of cedis.
Five large stores were destroyed and several bags of cereals comprising maize, rice, guinea corn, sorghum, millet and groundnuts completely got burnt.
Over five hundred market women trading at the market have being affected.
Some of them told Citi News they collected loans from micro finance institutions to expand their businesses.

Personnel from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service are conducting investigations to establish the cause of the inferno.
The Tamale Aboabo grains market is one of the major sources of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly’s Internally Generated Fund Mobilization.
Muslim Clergy led by the Northern Regional Chief Imam Alhaji Abdul Salam Abubakari visited the scene and consoled the victims.
The Spokesperson, Alhaji Abdullah Hindu told Citi News the Muslim Clergy were touched by the inferno, hence the rapid response.
