Pressure group Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) has agreed with the Accra Regional Police Command to reschedule their aagbe w) demonstration to November 12, 2014.
AFAG threatened to sue the Police after they secured an order to prevent the group from demonstrating on November 6, the same day heads of state of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) are expected to converge on Accra.
[contextly_sidebar id=”yp08IVYx8NPme3bGZ3BhIYre0t2HbZbN”]AFAG alleged in an interview with Citi News that the Police were deliberately curtailing their rights to demonstrate.
The Police later explained that they could not provide security for AFAG because they will be occupied with providing security for the presidents.
AFAG’s aagbe w) demonstration is against the “excessive abuse and misuse of state resources by National Democratic Congress (NDC) appointees.”
According to AFAG, Ghanaians have not seen any value for money ever since the NDC took over from the NPP[New Patriotic Party] in 2009.”
AFAG Chairman Dr. Ayew Afriyie alleged that, “We can only boast of well organised corruption. There is a new revelation of waste and misuse of state resources. There appears to be a well organised attempt to strip the state naked of its funds by dishonest appointees filled with greed.”
