The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is targeting nine seats in the Upper East Region in 2016.
Out of 15 Parliamentary seats, the NPP can only boast of two seats in the region.

The NPP Upper East Regional Chairman, Adam Mahama says his administration is targeting nine seats in 2016.
“Those days that the NDC claimed that the Upper East Region is their strong hold or World Bank will be a thing of the past: the Upper East Region will not agree to that and by the will of Allah we are looking at eight or nine seats in the Upper East Region in 2016.”
Among the targeted seats according to Adam Mahama include Bawku Central, Bolga Central, Navrongo, Chiana-Paga, Zebila, Garu and Timpani.
The Upper East Regional NPP Chairman advised all the major actors in the political arena to be civil in their discourse.
“2016 elections I wish it will come and go peacefully: this election will not be a do and die affair because it is clear that Nana Ado will become the President of this country, you see what is happening in the country nothing is moving, so I believe strongly that Nana Ado surely will become the President of this country.”
