The Minister of Communications, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah has discounted claims by the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) that it collaborated with the British authorities to arrest a cocaine courier Nayele Ametefeh.
[contextly_sidebar id=”Y7xwjbQ6rXClFSOOoJDMYZyvnZrzBvyp”]A press statement signed by the Deputy Executive Secretary of NACOB said Nayele “was arrested on the 10th of November, 2014 through the collaborative effort of the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) and its British partners.”
But speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show Dr. Omane Boamah insisted the claims by NACOB are untrue; “I state here and now that we discount the claims until NACOB provides the evidence that it collaborated with the British intelligence.”
“I discounted NACOB’s claims that they collaborated with the British intelligence with respect to this particular arrest. However to give them the benefit of the doubt I also indicated that if they release evidence to contradict that discount that I had put out there,I was ready to change my position.”
One of Austrian’s biggest newspapers, reported that Nayele Ametefeh had on her an EU passport, a Ghanaian diplomatic passport and an Austrian passport.
But responding to the publication the Minister said ;“I have seen that newspaper on social media. The inscription in there was in a language that I do not read neither do I understand that language. I will not pretend to have read and understood what is there. However what is the issue is that you are indicating to me that an Austrian newspaper has published that the lady brandished a diplomatic passport that is of Ghana origin.”
