Whatever they do seems to increase the woes of the people instead of solving our problems. What function will this new Ministry perform that the Ministry of Energy and its affiliated agencies can’t perform if the necessary logistics are provided? If the President feels the energy Ministry has performed below expectation, why can’t he simply change the Minister, his deputies, chief directors, board of governors/directors, and the rest. If powerlines, generation plants and transformers are outdated, just provide the resources for their replacement and not a creation of a separate Ministry. What sort of advice or recommendations can’t my Hon. MP give the Energy Ministry as the Chairman of Parliamentary Select Committee on Energy that we have to create a Ministry before? This to me is a wasteful venture just like SADA and the rest. Imagine the amount of money that will go into office accommodation, vehicles, furniture, computers and accessories coupled with an increase in power requirement in the mist of the current power crisis. Share duplication of functions. Everything SADA was created for could have been done easily by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the other ministries with same resources they had and still have. However, we as a people and the President as the leader decided to waste so much to create SADA; provided offices in all the beneficiary regions, purchased vehicles, furniture and office equipment and the list goes on. At the end of the day, we are all witnesses to what has become of all those investments.
I believe what we need as a country is a clear cut vision, commitment to that vision, proactive attitude and a sense of responsibility and we will get ourselves out of these baby problems we always cry foul about.

No doubt, somebody who steals his way, with the help of some people, into leadership position, is BOUND to fail and to face the wrath of God.

president lacks the knowledge and understanding of what is happening at the
energy/power sector, this is NOT the case of somebody sabotaging something, IT
IS a case of the RESOURCES not being provided by the powers that be. Yes,
additional transmission lines should be provided, old ones changed, and NEW
investments made in the Renewable Energy sector.

In the meantime, resources SHOULD be made to the existing Thermal Plants for them
to run smoothly.

Sacking of MDs and creation of new Ministries WOULD NOT solve the problem.

It’s just a duplication of jobs with ministry of energy. New workers, administrative organisation, funds allocation etc is just useless to be wasting time and money. The main problem is lack of technology and system upgrade to transmit and distribute power not only generation. I will prefer a unit (of ten people) with objective of identifying components needed to be upgraded in terms of power transmission and distribution. Smart technology to manage consumer usage and early detection of faults. there are a lot of companies ready to invest in Power Generation thanks to Renewable energy act and the feed-in tariffs but they are turn down mainly because the line that will transmit this power is too old to carry or does not have the required technology to manage it from different source and this is the problem. The mandate for this unit is to ensure that the system are upgraded in each sector using the staff of generation, distribution and distribution to accomplish that within specific time frame after which a review is done and also ensure decentralization of power which is much more manageable . They will have power as a ministry to deal with players in the sector and their mandate will only be for period of one year after which the president will decide whether to renew or dissolve it. With this we can measure the progress systematically.I will also support a unit solely focus on attracting 1000MW investment of power from Renewable Energy (Mainly Solar & Wind) in one year. Creating another ministry shows how clueless this president is.
