He had a wife and child and was staying in a compound house. His wife had an altercation with the landlady. Some days after, she started falling sick. Pastors and pseudo spiritualists blamed the landlady for the wife’s predicament. She had apparently used her for juju. Trips to the hospital didn’t yield any meaningful results. Finally she was sent to a pentecost prayer camp and the head claimed he had the antidote to her illness. She spent months fasting, praying and binding demons and principalities, but her condition deteriorated. The pastor after months was exhausted and advised the family to seek western medical treatment.
It was at this stage that they found out the lady was HIV positive (probably end stage). The doctors of course couldn’t perform any magic to save her. Luckily, the child was also tested and is now on ARVs.
The man is a broken man now and wished he had visited the hospital earlier.
He hasn’t stepped in church since.
