The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Paul Afoko has called for a cease fire among supporters of the candidates contesting the presidential slot of the party and charged them to go into Saturday’s elections “united.”
Mr. Afoko said this on Wednesday at the party’s press conference ahead of the National Delegates Congress scheduled for Saturday October 18.
According him, the “NPP is the only source of hope for our country men and women, ” hence the need to go into the elections “united,” and present a better alternative to Ghanaians during the 2016 elections.

Supporters of both candidates have been attacking themselves in the campaign process.
Last Saturday some known supporters of one of the candidates Nana Akufo-Addo in the Brong Ahafo Region, allegedly attacked a supporter of Alan Kyeremanten at a radio station.
Some of the party’s constituency executives across the country have also thrown their weight behind Nana Akufo-Addo ahead of the contest on Saturday.
The NPP Chairman told the press that “I’m happy to inform you that all is set for the election of our next presidential candidate.”
The General Secretary of the party Kwabena Agyepong who addressed the media announced that campaigning officially ends on Thursday and also warned that “there shall not be campaigning at the polling stations on election day.”
He also warned that voters who display their thumb printed ballots will have their ballots canceled.
Polling begins at 7am and ends at 3pm in a contest that will see over 140,000 delegates vote for a flagbearer.
Three candidates are competing to lead the party in the next general elections; Alan Kyermenaten, Francis Addai Nimoh and Nana Akufo-Addo
