A poll of 2,261 men and women in long-term relationships has revealed that you should chuck a steady stream of gifts at your other half for a happier time.
Over two-thirds of regular gift givers believe their relationship has improved as a result of their generosity.
Respondents were first asked to reveal the state of their relationship and then their gift-buying habits.
Forty-one per cent regularly buy gifts, of which 67 per cent were those in ‘excellent’ relationships, followed by those in ‘great’ relationships and ‘good’ relationships.
All of those ‘bad’ relationships did not buy regular gifts for their partner.
Mike Herbert of, yes, gift website gonedigging.co.uk said: ‘Before the assumptions of materialism arise, let’s not forget how touching it is to receive an unexpected gift from that special someone and also how lovely it is to give someone something which you know will make their day.’
In other ‘buy yourself a love life’ news, another study has revealed that 72 per cent of women say dark chocolate puts them in the mood for sex.
But it has to be GOOD chocolate, not some garage crap, obviously.
This survey, by IllicitEncounters.com, polled 1,400 ladies, 68 per cent of whom would be put off if a lover bought cheap chocs.
And, in case you still need help buying gifts for your other half, the ‘most seductive’ chocolate to buy is apparently Hotel Chocolat, Charbonnel et Walker, Lindt, Green and Blacks or Godiva.
