The main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has warned the media against declaring the results of the October 18 flagbearer elections.
The party said the authority to declare the winner of the party’s polls has solely been vested in the Electoral Commission(EC)
“The EC will declare the winner of the elections, hopefully by 10 pm. We urge the Media and party members not to declare the winner until the EC does,” a member of the Election Committee of the party, OB Amoah said.
He further revealed that the necessary measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth election.

The aspirants contesting for the flagbear slot are Nana Akufo Addo, Alan Kyeremanten, and Francis Addai Nimoh.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Alan Kyeremanten has, ahead of the elections, asked delegates to carefully examine all the contenders vying for the flagbearership slot before voting on October 18.
“When people want to contest for positions, I think what voters need to do is to find out what their record is. We have to separate ambition from ability and the fact that you want to be President. We all have ambitions but the issue is not about your ambition, it is about your capacity and your ability and that ability must be based on your record,” Alan said.
