Cristiano Ronaldo missed and scored a penalty before Real Madrid came from behind to beat Bulgarian side Ludogorets in the Champions League.

Marcelinho headed in after the European champions failed to clear Fabio Espinho’s corner after eight minutes.

Two minutes later Ronaldo had his penalty saved by Vladislav Stoyanov but he did manage to convert another from the spot midway through the first half.

Karim Benzema sealed an unconvincing win when he headed in Marcelo’s cross.

Real Madrid move on to six points in Group B with Liverpool and Baselboth on three points.

Arsenal eased to a 4-1 win in Group D’s other match thanks to a Danny Welbeck hat-trick.

Zenit St Petersburg and Monaco remain level on four points at the top of Group C following their goalless draw.

In the other game in that group, Stefan Kiessling, Son Heung-min and Hakan Calhanoglu were on target for Bayer Leverkusen’s 3-1 win overBenfica. Eduardo Salvio pulled one back for the Portuguese side.
