The people of both Nkoranza North and South in the Brong Ahafo Region thronged the Nkoranza township to give embattled former Member of Parliament Eric Amoateng a rousing welcome on Saturday.

The former MP for Nkoranza North, expressed gratitude to the Chiefs and people of Nkoranza for the massive support they gave him when he was incarcerated.

[contextly_sidebar id=”G6Y0QhEBlRK8fGcYXZPZXUPCP5dZDd3x”]Mr Amoateng was earlier arrested in Ghana upon his arrival from the US where he served a ten year jail term for illegal drug trafficking.

He was subsequently arrested by the Ghana Police at the Kotoka Airport for allegedly possessing a fake passport.

After various investigations, the police granted him bail of GHC200, 000 with three sureties which he failed to meet until now.

Citi News Brong Ahafo regional correspondent Kwadwo Brefo reported that “in a joyous atmosphere, the people of Nkoranza North and South trouped to Nkoranza to meet him upon arrival at the town after he visited his wife at Bonsu.”

Mr Amoateng expressed his appreciation to the people after paying a courtesy call on the Chief of Nkoranza, Okatakyie Agyeman Kudom IV, after he was released from police custody.

Kwadwo Brefo added that from there, Mr Amoateng headed to the municipal capital to meet his people and also pay a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of the town where he thanked him and his people for their prayers and support.
