Former President Jerry John Rawlings has decried the state at which prices of goods and services in the country keep increasing.
According to him, a carton of milk which used to sell at GH¢35 is now selling at GH¢60.
Speaking at the presentation of some food items to boxers Braimah Kamoko, alias Bukom Banko and Michael Ayittey Okine, alias Ayittey Powers last Thursday, ex-president Rawlings said things were difficult.
He said he had three soldiers and the little he can do for them is to provide them with coffee, sugar and milk in the morning.
So I also buy. Not government. And so I know, things are difficult, he said in the Ga language.
Mr Rawlings said he visited a sick person the previous night and decided to buy some yam, cassava and other items and by the time it was totalled, he told himself, he should have known better.
He said he thought the prices wouldn’t affect some of those things but he was counting millions for those few items he bought.
Former president Rawlings and his family on August 7, 2014 presented 20 bags of rice and 10 cartons of frozen chicken to Bukom Banku and Ayitey Powers at his Ridge residence.
The items donated were to congratulate the two boxers for bringing back the spirit of boxing to the nation, when they drove thousands of fans to the Accra Sports Stadium to witness the much published bout.
