Renewed clashes were reported on Tuesday night at Bawku in the Northern region.

Security Personnel have been on patrols to forestall further acts of violence around the Bawku township.

According to Chief Superintendent Tefourtor Kaletsi, who is the Bawku Divisional Police Commander, the security personnel are prepared to maintain security to ensure that the situation does not get worse.

He said two people were shot on Monday and one of the victims, Mutala Mohamed Dinko, a student of the University of Development Studies (UDS) died on Wednesday while the other was still on admission at a hospital in Bawku.

He said there was no clear reason for the shootings but investigations were still on ongoing.

Narrating the incident, Chief Superintendent Kaletsi said a group of young men were seated under a tree conversing when the shootings begun.

Mr Evans Dinko, Uncle of the deceased, said the family was suspecting a personal vendetta that someone might have tried to settle by hiring a killer to do so.

He explained that his nephew was neither involved in politics nor ethnic feuds and so the family could not understand why the killer wanted him dead.
