A middle aged Rastaman Emmanuel Martey failed to force back his tears as the man he stood surety for, Samuel Ardy failed to show up at the circuit court. Samuel Ardy will know how it feels because he also stood surety for one Musa Bukari.
In a flood of tears, Emmanuel Martey, pleaded with the court to give him some time to produce Samuel Ardy.
Rastman Martey claimed the suspect was hiding somewhere at Abeka Lapaz and should be given time to produce him. And the more the tears continued to stream down his cheeks, the court reminded him that his emotional outbursts will have little effect on the rules of the court.
According to the GNA, the prosecutor Chief Inspector Charles Chester, told the court Martey was arrested after a bench warrant was issued, following the failure of Samuel Ardy, the man who he stood surety for.
Interestingly, Ardy, now at large, had stood surety for one Musa Bukari who is facing the law for allegedly collecting GH¢16,600 from a complainant under the pretext of securing him auctioned cars.
Instead of showing up in court, Musa has been on the run for a year, while the Ministries police continue to look for him.
Rastaman Martey was granted bail in the sum of GH¢30,000 with two sureties to reappear on August 28. He was also ordered by the court to report himself to the police every Monday and Wednesday at the Criminal Investigation Department, Ministries Police Station, Accra.
