The Acting Deputy Director of Communications of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Perry Okudzeto has been asked to proceed on leave.
This is according to a letter signed by the General Secretary of the party Kwabena Agyapong.
The leave will take effect from Monday August, 18, 2014.
“You have accumulated leave for four years. However we are able to grant you two years leave. This translates into 40 working days,” the letter said.
“You are required to prepare your handing over notes and submit to the Ag Director of Finance and Administration,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, Mr. Okudzeto speaking on Eyewitness News on Friday said, “… I have been asked to proceed on leave [without any reason]’’.
He explained he was called into a meeting and quizzed about the number of years he has served the party and subsequently asked to proceed on leave.
‘’… In this situation where you are asked how many years you have worked for the party and then you are quizzed as to what you do and the rest of it; and after the conversation you are told to proceed on leave, I do not think that those who claim they want to professionalise the operations of the NPP are trending well in that regard,’’ he opined.
The General Secretary of the NPP in another release also appointed new persons into the Communications team of the party.
For the Northern Sector, Mr Abudu Abdul Ganiyu and Ahmed Karim. For the middle belt, Nana Yaw Osei and Jennifer Amoako. For the Western sector, Micahel Ampong whilst, Mike Ocquaye, Kofi Boateng, Pius Hadzide and Seibik Bugri will represent the Eastern sector.
“In line with the re-organisation of the Communications Directorate of the party, further appointment and directives will be communicated very soon,” he indicated.
