The Director of Communications of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Ernest Owusu Bempah, has rubbished media reports that the party’s founder, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, is returning to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The Republic Newspaper, on Tuesday, reported that the former vice chairperson of the NDC was rejoining the party.
The former first lady, left the NDC and went on to form the National Democratic Party.
However, Ernest Owusu Bempah, in an interview with Citi News downplayed the publication, stating that the NDP founder had no intentions of returning to the NDC.
“It is a lie, it is not true,” he stated when asked to comment on the newspaper’s claim.
He went on to describe the publication by the newspaper as “a propaganda agenda by certain elements within the government circles.”
He believes it is an attempt by some members of the NDC government to “tarnish the image of our party [NDP], a strategy to destroy our party and destroy the former first lady and should be treated with the contempt it deserves.”
Mr. Owusu Bempah added that they would soon “put the names of those trying to destroy our party out there.”
