Workers of the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra on Thursday morning staged a demonstration to protest against what they describe as poor working conditions and the non-payment of salaries.
Citi FM’s Rabiu Alhassan who was at the Hotel said “the place was quite filled with about three hundred workers of the hotel who were protesting the non-payment of their salaries. They were demanding for salary increases and improved working conditions.”
He stated that the workers revealed that employees and management were expected to negotiate for salary increases two years ago, but “that did not happen.”
Rabiu also stated that management of the hotel had failed to respond to concerns raised by employees, adding that they returned to work after they [management] secured a deal with the workers.
Speaking to Citi News, an employee of the hotel, Mustapha Quansah said the demonstration had become necessary since management had failed to heed to their concerns.
” For sometime now we have been having problems with management regarding how the hotel is gradually declining…,”he said
